New Year, new learning for us all!

Happy New Year to everyone, especially to our pupils and parents who are teaching and learning from home. It is very different for us all but we are so grateful that we had a very fruitful, busy term one in both the senior and junior class.

When we had confirmation that our school would remain closed for the month of January, we sprang into action and delivered folders of books and activities to all our families. We also lent laptops to our families so that they would have enough devices at home and have access to our interactive Irish programme- ‘Bua na Cainte’. We have continued to use class dojo to upload activities and teach lessons. Our pupils use the class dojo platform to communicate with teachers and to upload work for assessment. We are delighted with all the work and lovely photos that we have received so far and so proud of our pupils and parents for what they are doing!

Class Dojo

We are delighted to be using the class dojo platform to communicate with parents and to acknowledge the great work that our pupils and teachers are doing in our school. One of the highlights so far this year was recording the poems and songs which we learned for OĂche Shamhna. The Senior Class even made a spooky halloween movie and learnt a spooky dance! All of our families are now connected with us via Class Dojo and each child has their very own e-portfolio which documents their learning. Class dojo offers a two way street in regards to communication so our parents can keep in touch with us too. They can keep up with what is going on in our school, in a safe and interactive way, throughout this school year.

OĂche Shamhna

Halloween is always one of the highlights of our year in Ballyheerin NS. The children looked fabulous in their costumes and we thank all the Mammies and Daddies for taking time to put the costumes together. The junior class recited wonderful halloween songs and poems. The senior class recited poems, learnt a spooky dance and made a spooky halloween video. Everything was recorded and uploaded for our school community to view on class dojo.

Walking on Sunshine

The senior class enjoyed a lovely walk around Ballyheerin today. We had a look at the two older national schools that were in Ballyheerin before the establishment of our present school in 1913. We made a lot of new friends as we saw lots of lovely horses and their foals on our travels! The blue skies, calm water and fresh air left us feeling very content and recharged on our return to the classroom.

First Day back

The staff of Ballyheerin NS were absolutely delighted to welcome the children of Ballyheerin NS back to school after a long time apart! We are delighted to re-united with our pupils and we would like to gave an especially warm fĂĄilte to Sophie and Natasha, our two new junior infants!

Ádh mór

The staff and pupils of Ballyheerin NS would like to wish our former sixth class pupils: Michael, Kerri, Emily, Caoimhe and RoisĂn the very best of luck in their new schools. Here is a little video that we put together earlier this year for our virtual graduation. We will miss this year group alot but we are excited for them and this next chapter in their lives. We are thankful to MĂșinteoir GrĂĄinne for making a lovely collage and to MĂșinteoir Roisin for making a wonderful video for their graduation earlier this year.
