Walking on Sunshine

The senior class enjoyed a lovely walk around Ballyheerin today. We had a look at the two older national schools that were in Ballyheerin before the establishment of our present school in 1913. We made a lot of new friends as we saw lots of lovely horses and their foals on our travels! The blue skies, calm water and fresh air left us feeling very content and recharged on our return to the classroom.

5-a-side Soccer

Earlier this month, our pupils competed in FAI Spar Primary 5s competition. The pupils of Ballyheerin NS played very well, especially our 6th class players who represented our school in this competition for the final time. We are all very proud of them. Here, they are pictured in their lovely football kits. Well done also to Jack, who made a fantastic footballing debut for Ballyheerin 😊 âšœ

Donegal Donkey Sanctuary

Our children, along with the children from Drumfad NS, visited the Donegal Donkey Sanctuary in Raphoe on Monday 22nd May. We had a tour around the Donkey Sanctuary and saw the donkeys in the fields and more of them in the stables. We were so excited to see the new foal Hope ! We were also delighted to see Timmy the Donkey, as Drumfad NS have sponsored Timmy.

The Donkey Sanctuary is doing great work caring for the Donkeys. They currently have 75 Donkeys at the Sanctuary. We enjoyed hearing the different stories and hearing the different names for the Donkeys.

We wish the Donkey Sanctuary all the best and we thank them for a very informative visit .

Ballyheerin Spring Clean-Up

We had our annual Ballyheerin Spring Clean up on Wednesday 26th April. All of the children and adults wore high-vis jackets and garden gloves. We headed off in a few separate groups around the roads of Ballyheerin and filled over 12 bags of rubbish. We found that the roads were much cleaner than other years. We hope next year to move our clean-up to new roads around Ballyheerin! Thanks to everyone who helped out ! Let’s keep Ballyheerin tidy !
