Walking on Sunshine

The senior class enjoyed a lovely walk around Ballyheerin today. We had a look at the two older national schools that were in Ballyheerin before the establishment of our present school in 1913. We made a lot of new friends as we saw lots of lovely horses and their foals on our travels! The blue skies, calm water and fresh air left us feeling very content and recharged on our return to the classroom.

Ádh mór

The staff and pupils of Ballyheerin NS would like to wish our former sixth class pupils: Michael, Kerri, Emily, Caoimhe and RoisĂn the very best of luck in their new schools. Here is a little video that we put together earlier this year for our virtual graduation. We will miss this year group alot but we are excited for them and this next chapter in their lives. We are thankful to MĂșinteoir GrĂĄinne for making a lovely collage and to MĂșinteoir Roisin for making a wonderful video for their graduation earlier this year.

Our Spanish Amigos đŸ‡Ș🇩

Every child in Ballyheerin NS from 2nd-6th class has a penpal in Chester College International School, located in the North of Spain. Chester language school is a boarding school with similar numbers to Ballyheerin NS. They are educated through English but we have learned a few Spanish words and phrases from them. Some of us have even taught our pen-pals some Irish words! We write to our pen-pals on a monthly basis and there is always great excitement when we receive a reply, like today! Our teachers matched us with pen-pals who have similar interests to ourselves so we always have lots to write about!
