Excitement was in the air this morning when we welcomed our junior class back to school and we look forward to having our senior class back again really soon!

Class Dojo
We are delighted to be using the class dojo platform to communicate with parents and to acknowledge the great work that our pupils and teachers are doing in our school. All of our families are now connected with us via Class Dojo and each child has their very own e-portfolio which documents their learning. Class dojo offers a two way street in regards to communication so our parents can keep in touch with us too. They can keep up with what is going on in our school, in a safe and interactive way, throughout this school year. Check out our stats for last week!

Activities in Ballyheerin NS
Dance Class:Â
We have fun dance class with Teresa on Mondays 11:30 â 12:30pm, in Nov and Dec
Music Class:
We have Piano, Fiddle, Tin Whistle & Singing class, from Halloween onwards.
Swimming:
We will go swimming in Meevagh Dive Centre on Friday afternoons in May and June.
Computer Classes:
We have Computer Classes in the second term.
Bible Stories:
We will have Bible Stories with Eugen or Claire once a month.
Assembly:
We have school assembly on Fridays at 11am. Children receive Student of the week certificates. The children can also bring a small toy to school on Friday.
Credit Union:
The children can save with the Swilly Mulroy Credit Union each Tuesday morning in school.
GAA Skills:
We have GAA Skills with Manus on Mondays from 9:30 â 11:00am

Athletics:
We have Athletics coaching every Friday with Cranford AC in our second term

As we begin our new school year weâd like to welcome all of the children, teachers and staff back to school. We hope you all had a fantastic Summer holiday and we look forward to a great year ahead!
Ballyheerin NS is still open for Enrolment throughout the school year. We would be delighted to welcome any new children aged 4- 12 to our school. Call 074 91 59526.

School Books: The school has purchased all of your childâs school books, including copybooks. Cost per child: Junior âŹ50 Senior âŹ55. Due before the end of September.
School Holidays:
Term 1:Â Halloween 27th Oct-Tues 7th Nov ; Christmas 22rd Dec â 8th Jan
Term 2: Midterm 15th & 16th Feb ; Easter 23rd March â 9th April
Term 3: Bank Holidays 7th May & 4th June ; Summer Closing 26th June
School Times:
School begins each morning at 9:20am. Doors will be locked at 9:30am.
School finishes for Infants at 2pm and for all other children at 3pm.
Children should be collected from the side gate at the Church carpark.
Junior Infants will finish at 12pm each day from 1st Sept â 9th Sept.
Healthy lunch:
We have a healthy food policy in Ballyheerin NS. Children who eat well have a much more productive and happy day in school. A copy of our food policy is available in the office.
Uniform: We have a Uniform Box in the office where you can leave/take second-hand uniforms at any time.
Thank you:A special thanks to Damien OâDoherty , our caretaker, who looked after the school during the Summer and who has it looking so tidy, clean and fresh, both outside and inside! We really appreciate it Damien! Go raibh maith agat!

Back to School
Ballyheerin NS re-opens on Thursday 1st September 9:20am-3pm. Junior Infants will finish at 12pm each day for the first week . All children to be collected at 12pm on Friday 2nd Sept to facilitate a staff meeting. Looking forward to seeing you all. Aoife

We have had a busy year in Ballyheerin NS. Here are some of the activities from the year:
Halloween Show of songs & poems, Aladdin at the Millenium Forum, Christmas Service in Leatbeg Church, Christmas Play Hosanna Rock , Friendship Day, World Book Day, Swimming Lessons in Meevagh Dive Centre, Junior Achievement Project, Trip to Glenveagh Castle, Trip to Ards Forest Park , Sports Day in Trialough, Nature walk around Ballyheerin, End of year Service in Ballyheerin chapel with Fr. Pat McGarvey.
Our 6th Class children Sinéad, Ellie, Andrew & Aaron are now ready to move on to Secondary school. We will miss them but we wish them all the best in the future.
I would like to thank MĂșinteoir GrĂĄinne Corry , MĂșinteoir Brenda Lee McDaid, MĂșinteoir MĂĄire Mc Clafferty, MĂșinteoir Lorna Gibbons, MĂșinteoir Treasa Coll, Fidelma Heraghty and Damien Oâ Doherty for all their work during the year. It is appreciated by everyone.
On a personal note, Iâd like to thank the whole school community for their continued support â the children, the parents, the staff, the Board of Management and the local community. With all your support, Ballyheerin NS is a safe and active learning environment.
