We travelled to the Millennium Forum in Derry on 2nd Dec 2016 to see Cinderella. The children all enjoyed the trip and the show. Thanks to the team at the Millennium Forum for the great seats !
Mary Poppins Ballyheerin style !
The children from Ballyheerin NS performed their version of Mary Poppins in December 2016. They worked extremely hard learning songs and their lines, developing their acting skills and creating their costumes. The show was enjoyed by everyone. Well done to all of the children. Our Design Exhibition at Regional Cultural Centre
We all travelled to the Regional Cultural Centre on 9th Dec 2016 to attend the Exhibition of our Artwork which we designed with Rebecca Marsden, Fashion Designer. We were so proud of our artwork. Emily, Roisin, Caoimhe and Aoibhinn presented our work to the large crowd who attended the exhibition. We had lots of yummy food at the Cultural Centre afterwards. The Director of the Crafts Council of Ireland , and the Director of the Donegal Education Centre both highly commended our school for the outstanding presentation and for the beautiful Design we created of the Fanad Peninsula.
Music Classes at Ballyheerin NS
We are delighted to have music classes each Monday afternoon. All of the children avail of Singing class with MĂșinteoir GrĂĄinne and Tin Whistle class with MĂșinteoir Maria. Children from 1st – 6th class also choose either Piano class with MĂșinteoir Aoife or Fiddle class with MĂșinteoir Maria.
Fashion Design
The children are so excited to have the Fashion Designer Rebecca Marsden coming to work with them in the school. Rebecca will create some artwork with the children based on our locality. The designs will be exhibited in the Regional Cultural Centre on 9th Dec 1-2pm. All will be welcome to attend the Exhibition, where a child from our school will present our design.
Mulroy Estate Autumn Walk
Thank you so much to the Mulroy Estate for allowing us to go on an Autumn Nature Exploration around the grounds. Thank you also to our nature expert Aengus Kennedy who was our guide. All of the children, teachers and parents who went on the walk thoroughy enjoyed the adventure. It was a very healthy learning experience for us all. Check out our photos in the Gallery and also the Mouse Houses we made on the grounds!
Big Bear Planetarium
We are delighted to welcome the children from Cashel NS, Doaghbeg NS & Drumfad NS to our school to visit the Big Bear Planetarium.

Activities in Ballyheerin NS
Dance Class:Â
We have fun dance class with Teresa on Thursdays 12:30 – 1:30pm in Nov and Dec
Music Class:
We have music class on Fridays. Piano, Fiddle, Tin Whistle & Singing class.
Swimming:
We will go swimming in Mevagh Dive Centre on Friday afternoons in May and June.
Computer Classes:
We have Computer Classes in the second term.
Bible Stories:
We will have Bible Stories with Eugen once a month.
Assembly:
We have school assembly on Fridays at 11am. Children receive Student of the week certificates. The children can also bring a small toy to school on Friday.
Credit Union:
The children can save with the Swilly Mulroy Credit Union each Thursday morning in school.
GAA Skills:
We have GAA Skills with Manus on Mondays from 9:30 – 10:30am

Welcome back !
As we begin our new school year weâd like to welcome all of the children, teachers and staff back to school. We would especially like to welcome our new Junior Infants! We hope you all had a fantastic Summer holiday and we look forward to a great year ahead!
Ballyheerin NS is still open for Enrolment throughout the school year. We would be delighted to welcome any new children aged 4- 12 to our school. Call 074 91 59526.

School Books: The school has purchased all of your childâs school books, including copybooks. Cost per child: Junior âŹ50 Senior âŹ55. Due before the end of September.
School Holidays:

Term 2: Midterm 23rd & 24th Feb ; Easter 7th – 24th April
Term 3: Bank Holidays 1st May & 5th June ; Summer Closing 27th June
School Times:
School begins each morning at 9:20am. Doors will be locked at 9:30am.
School finishes for Infants at 2pm and for all other children at 3pm.
Children should be collected from the side gate at the Church carpark.
Junior Infants will finish at 12pm each day from 1st Sept – 9th Sept.
Healthy lunch:
We have a healthy food policy in Ballyheerin NS. Children who eat well have a much more productive and happy day in school. A copy of our food policy is available in the office.
Uniform: We have a Uniform Box in the office where you can leave/take second-hand uniforms at any time.

Back to School
Ballyheerin NS re-opens on Thursday 1st September 9:20am-3pm. Junior Infants will finish at 12pm each day for the first week . All children to be collected at 12pm on Friday 2nd Sept to facilitate a staff meeting. Looking forward to seeing you all. Aoife
