Cross Country Athletics
Well done to all of our children who took part in the Cross Country Athletics in Milford. Thanks also to the teacher and parents who travelled with them and for the great support. Maith sibh uilig !
Gaeil FhĂĄnada Clg County Champions
We were delighted to have a visit from the Gaeil FhĂĄnada Clg Ladies team who won the Donegal Championship at the weekend. The girls and one of their managers John told the children all about playing football, being part of a team and about their winning the Donegal final. The children loved holding the trophy. We wish the team the very best of luck in their upcoming Ulster quarter final match being held at Gaeil FhĂĄnada’s homeground PĂĄirc UĂ Shiadhil , Portsalon.
Fanad Lighthouse
We were delighted to welcome one of Fanad Lighthouse’s top tour guides to our school on Monday. CĂĄite Fealty visited the school and gave the children a fantastic talk on the Fanad Llighthouse and it’s history. The children really enjoyed the lesson. Go raibh maith agat CĂĄite.
GAA Skills
We are delighted to have Manus back again coaching the children in GAA skills. These lessons will continue until Halloween holidays.
Letter from Oifig an Taoisigh
Children in our Senior class were delighted to receive a reply from the Office of an Taoiseach during the week in response to a letter then had sent him in relation to transport and more specifically the lack of a train service in Donegal.

Welcome back to school ! As we begin our new school year we’d like to welcome all of the children, teachers and staff back to school. We hope you all had a fantastic Summer holiday and we look forward to a great year ahead!
Ballyheerin NS is still open for Enrolment throughout the school year. We would be delighted to welcome any new children aged 4-12 to our school. Call 074 9159526.

School Books: The school has purchased all of your childâs school books, including copybooks. Cost per child: Junior class âŹ50, Senior class âŹ55. Money due before the end of September.
School Holidays:
Term 1: Halloween 25th Oct-5th Nov ; Christmas 21st Dec â 7th Jan
Term 2: Midterm 21st & 22nd Feb ; Bank Holiday 18th March; Easter 12th April â 29th April
Term 3: Bank Holidays 6th May & 3rd June ; Summer Closing 25th June
School Times: School begins each morning at 9:20am. Doors will be locked at 9:30am. School finishes for Infants at 2pm and for all other children at 3pm. Children should be collected from the side gate at the Church carpark. Junior Infants will finish at 12pm each day from 31st Aug â 7th Sept.
Healthy lunch: We have a healthy food policy in Ballyheerin NS. Children who eat well have a much more productive and happy day in school. A copy of our food policy is available in the office.
Uniform: We have a Uniform Box in the office where you can leave/take second-hand uniforms at any time. It would be great to get more second-hand items for our uniform box.

Swimming
Thank you to Mevagh Dive Centre for the great swimming lessons this year. The children all made great progress in their swimming and enjoyed the lessons.
GAA Sports Day
Gaeil FhĂĄnada CLG again organised the inter-schools Sports Day at Traigh-a-locha. The children from Ballyheerin NS thoroughly enjoyed the day and also enjoyed getting to know the children from the other schools.

End of Year Service
We had our End of Year Service in Ballyheerin chapel. Many of the wider school community attended. Thank you to Fr Pat and Rev. David for the lovely service.
We also presented the children with certificates for various achievements throughout the year.
Thank you to the parents for organising refreshments afterwards in the school.
