We had our annual Ballyheerin Spring Clean up on Wednesday 26th April. All of the children and adults wore high-vis jackets and garden gloves. We headed off in a few separate groups around the roads of Ballyheerin and filled over 12 bags of rubbish. We found that the roads were much cleaner than other years. We hope next year to move our clean-up to

The children have been so lucky to have had some gymnastic lessons with Teresa. They have been learning about the: Forward Roll-Over = Stretch, Squat, Smack, Tuck, Lift & Roll. The Senior classes were very lucky to have some Volunteers from the Marine Harvest working with them on Science topics over the past few weeks based on Our Universe. They covered the following topics – Bones & Skeleton, Paper Chromatography & Forensic Science, Fuel & Energy Audit, The Heart & Circulation, Light, Laser & Reflection as well as building a Periscope. Ballyheerin school are delighted to be taking part for the first time in the FAI Primary 5 a-side soccer Small Schools soccer competition. The Senior class will all travel to Ballyare for the 5-a-side blitz leaving the school at 9:30am on 14th March. Good luck to all of Team Ballyheerin!
Ballyheerin school is delighted to be hosting our own Exhibition at the Fanad Lighthouse on Tuesday 7th March 11am – 12:30pm. The whole community of “In between the waters” are invited along, as well as parents, families and neighbours. We were delighted to have Caroline from the Donegal County Museum in the school. She brought with her a large Archaeology box. It was filled with old artefacts dating back to the Stone Age. All artefacts were found in Donegal and are housed in the Donegal County Museum. Caroline gave the children a brief history of Donegal using all of the old Artefacts. It
We had a lovely time in Ballyheerin school on Friendship day. All of the children worked together to create beautiful Friendship cards for family members and for each other. We try every day to be better friends , to ourselves and to those around us. #Cairde
We had great fun re-enacting the Famine drama with Patsy Kavanagh . The children learned so much about what it was like to live during the time of the Famine in Ireland in the 1840s. Thanks to Patsy for the lovely ballad singing as well !
