Children from junior infants to 1st have been enjoying a reading buddy programme with children from 2nd- Sixth Class. They read lots and lots of books over the six week period!
The children of Ballyheerin NS have astounded us with a dramatic take on the classic Christmas tale ‘The Little Drummer Boy’. We are delighted that the children’s creativity and unique energy stood out among hundreds of entries. There was alot of work involved with the project but the 5 children in the senior class are multi-talented!

The senior class have been working hard at drawing what they see in front of them, to shade the darkness and to show light. We have been setting up a still lifes in the centre. Our class have enjoyed drawing our still life from different perspectives! The senior class have also been experimenting with oil pastels and how to blend colours!
Unfortunately, we were unable to invite parents into our school for our annual Halloween show. However, the virtual show which the junior and senior class presented was absolutely fantastic. We are very proud of our senior class. The pupils have collaborated in order to enter a competition to celebrate the life and legacy of St. Colmcille. We first began learning about St. Colmcille last year when we took part in a virtual workshop with a heritage expert. We learned about the life of St. Colmcille and the symbols we associate with him. The senior class have been learning about the local, natural fauna of our local environment. We have learned to identify and name various trees and bushes that are growing near our school by examining the shapes and colours of berries, flowers and leaves. The junior and senior class celebrated STEAM Week remotely this year! Múinteoir Róisín put a really fun timetable of activities together.
