Lá le Bríd

Spring has sprung in Ballyheerin! We thank Múinteoir Gráinne for bringing in rushes for us all last Friday. Every child had the chance to make a lovely green cross for St. Brigid’s Day. We also thank the pupils in the senior class who helped the junior class to complete their crosses. ☘️

Heritage in Ballyheerin ☘️

Ballyheerin NS recently welcomed Steffi Otto to our school. Steffi taught the children about traditional crafts such as rope-making and basket weaving. She also introduced the children to many toys and games of the past. Thanks to Steffi, we got to see rushes being used in many interesting ways. We also made our own fabulous skipping ropes for the yard 😊

Obsessed with Chess!

Our junior and senior pupils have enjoyed learning to play chess in recent weeks. It is a game which is known to improve the social, cognitive and mental fitness of it’s players.
